We had such great fun with Eamonn from Drumadore in June 2024, funded by Creative Schools š„The rhythmic and repetitive nature of drumming can help to calm the mind and body, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety - plus itās lots of fun! Every class, including our preschool, got a chance to participate & it was paid for using our Creative Schools funding. When we applied to be a part of the Creative Schools programme a year and a half ago, we had made an application to create a sensory garden to enhance the wellbeing at our school. During Year 1 of Creative Schools, the Creative Associate gathered information to get a focus for the creative work and this was done through surveys. During Year 2, we hope to do lots of activities to enhance wellbeing through creativity. The children had expressed an interest in drumming when asked about creative activities & the workshop idea was child led.
Drumming is great for well-being because it can be a fun and engaging way to release stress, improve focus, boost mood, and increase creativity. It can also be a form of self-expression and a way to connect with others through music. It was a great end of year activity for our students who have been doing lots of well-being work all year alongside our creative schools project. Congratulations to our well-being group, who recently received the Amber Flag in recognition of their work this year! š§” @pieta.house
